Canada has terminated the program which allowed people affected by the October 2005 earthquake in South Asia to apply for immigration without paying processing fees.

Any applications received after May 1 must be accompanied by the requisite fees, according to a statement by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Applications received without this payment will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant, the statement added.
