Home repairmen might clean you up |
|
|
Here’s the scenario:Your roof is caving in. Coincidentally, a flyer
arrives that offers a good price on roof repair. After you call, the
roofer arrives at your door.
The scam: The repairman will ask for a down payment – usually in cash – before he starts work.
Unfortunately, he could disappear with your money never to return. Worse, he may do a shoddy job, overcharging you in the process and leaving you to repay someone else to fix the mess he's left.
Advice: Ask your neighbours or friends for the name of a trustworthy repair company.
